Before Your Appointment
If this is your first sugaring experience, please ensure your hair growth is at least 1/4 - 1/2 inch long (about 10 - 14 days growth) prior to your first appointment.
Exfoliating is recommended every second day in between treatments. Do NOT exfoliate the day before or the day of treatment.
Please ensure that you arrive with clean, dry skin. The treatment area needs to be free of any lotions, deodorants, or make up.
If you have any skin conditions, are taking the prescription Retin-A or Retinol, use micro-dermabrasion, or have any other concerns, please call 403-680-9680 prior to your appointment.
Avoid the sun and/or tanning beds for 24 hours prior to your appointment, as sunburned skin cannot be sugared.
If you are pain sensitive, please contact your health care professional to see if an over-the-counter pain medication taken 30 minutes prior to your appointment may be appropriate to help ease any discomfort you may experience.
*MEN - please bring a clean white t-shirt to wear after getting a back or chest treatment to keep the newly sugared area clean and dry.
Post-Care Instructions
After Your Appointment
Soak in 1/2 cup of the Alexandria Saltspring Dead Sea salt provided for 20 minutes the day of your appointment.
Wash your hands thoroughly before touching your freshly sugared treatment area.
Avoid intense exercise, sunbathing, tanning beds, hot tubs and swimming pools for 24 hours after your appointment as these may increase your chance of skin irritation or break-outs.
Do not apply any other creams or lotion to the treatment area for 24 hours. If you are experiencing skin dryness or irritation, contact Sugar Mama Body Sugaring for a list of Alexandria products available.
In Between Instructions
Between Your Appointments
Please ensure you exfoliate 2 - 3 days a week with the Alexandria Saltspring Dead Sea salt and exfoliating glove provided. This will help prevent in-grown hairs and break-outs by removing dry, dead skin from the surface. Exfoliating will also reduce much of the potential discomfort during sugaring treatments as the sugar will adhere more easily to the hair.
Regularly moisturize with a water-based lotion to keep the skin healthy and hydrated for your next sugaring treatment, unless indicated otherwise by your health care professional.
Do not use a razor, clippers or depilatory creams in between appointments. If you notice your hair is returning sooner than the expected 3-4 weeks, contact Sugar Mama Body Sugaring for an earlier appointment.
